Microsoft Project, tightly integrated with the Spitfire Project Management System (sfPMS), will allow you to maintain
better control of your business and its projects, increase resource utilization, capture costs more accurately, and better understand
the profitability of your project portfolios.
The combination of Spitfire Project Management System fully integrated with Microsoft Project provides all project stakeholders
with the tools they need to be successful. This end-to-end solution delivers powerful functionality for managing people, money and projects
in your organization.
Microsoft Project allows you to manage your project plans, communicate project status, and report
project information quickly and efficiently. When used with Microsoft Project Server, it also includes enterprise resource management capabilities
and portfolio management features, such as real-time reporting and scenario analysis tools. These tools enable project managers and
business decision-makers to view project and resource information across their department or entire organization.
Integration between Microsoft Project and Spitfire provides you with real-time data synchronization of data while providing
you with the option to control that integration.
In Spitfire, you can choose to integrate the following items with Microsoft Project:
- Budgets: Make the budget you've established in Spitfire available in to view in Microsoft Project
- Labor Costs: Update Microsoft Project Actual costs with Spitfire Labor Costs
- Resource Cost Rates: Make your Spitfire Resource Cost Rates available in Microsoft Project
- Projects: Spitfire Projects can be integrated with Microsoft Project on a project by project basis; and if integrated,
which employees will have access to charge time to the project's tasks
- Tasks: If a project is integrated with Microsoft Project, individual tasks may be selected for no integration
with Microsoft Project
- Employees: Make your Spitfire Employee list available in Microsoft Project on an employee-by-employee basis
- Project Employees: Make employee assignments to projects available to Microsoft Project
- Account Categories: Each account category can be selected for integration to one of Microsoft Project categories
(Actual Work, Other Project Expense, or Project Revenue) on a category-by-category basis
- Time Card Entry: Employees assigned to tasks in Microsoft Project can have those tasks inserted into the
employees' timecards
- Microsoft Web Project Analysis: Provides schedule and resource information with the integrated Spitfire data
in a web browser in a real-time
In Microsoft Project, integration with sfPMS is available in the following areas:
- Toolbar: Buttons added for Project Information, Task Information, View Profit Pain, and Synchronize Project with Spitfire,
and About Spitfire Integration.
- Project Information: Uses sfPMS project numbering format, Project Manager, Business Manager, Customer, and
Subaccount information is displayed.
- Task Information: Uses sfPMS task numbering format and includes contract type, revenue, other expenses, and status.
- Profit Pane: A split screen with the Gantt Chart view in the upper pane and the account categories in the lower
pane grouped by Total Work, Total Other Expenses, Total Revenue and Total Profit. As tasks are selected in the upper pane, the lower pane
refreshes with the selected task's data.
- Synchronize Project with sfPMS: Triggers a refresh of information from Spitfire to Microsoft Project. This
function is also triggered automatically whenever the project is saved.
Manage projects smarter and more efficiently. Microsoft Project Professional includes all the core project management
features included in Microsoft Project Standard, so you can easily and quickly set up task and resource assignments and track and report
project progress.
- Manage resources across your organization. Get accurate information about resource utilization and skills across
your organization.
- Share Information. Give team members and stakeholders the ability to view, update and analyze project information right
from their Web browsers. Microsoft Project Server provides a central
location for organizing and tracking project-related documents and
issues.
- Analyze and report project information. Microsoft Project delivers portfolio management, real-time reporting, analysis,
and modeling capabilities. Once project plans have been published
from Microsoft Project Professional to Microsoft Project Server, project
managers, executives, and other stakeholders can use Microsoft Project
Web Access - the Microsoft Project Server Web interface - to analyze
project data across their organization.
- Promote Standardization. Deploy enterprise templates and custom fields that enable consistent reporting across
your project portfolio.
